Jambi's export value in January fell 21.46 mtm

Jambi Province's export value contracted by 21.46 percent month-to-month (mtm) from US$216.99 million in December 2024 to US$170.42 million in January 2025. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Jambi Head Agus Sudibyo explained that the main cause of Jambi's export value decline was the drop in exports of fish and shrimp, vegetable oil, rubber and their derived products, plywood and other derived products, oil and gas, as well as coal.

"The export value until January 2025 was US$170.42 million, lower than the same period in 2024 which fell by 6.25 percent. Mining have the largest contribution to total exports in Jambi at 58.47 percent, followed by the industrial group at 37.71 percent, and the agricultural group at 3.82 percent," he elaborated in a BPS official statistical news release on Mar. 3, 2025.

When broken down by commodity, the industrial group is dominated by rubber and its processed products, which contributed 18.59 percent.

"The largest contributor from the mining group is oil and gas which reached 55.03 percent. Meanwhile, the betel nut commodity contributed 1.65 percen from the agricultural group," he said.

The five largest export destination countries for Jambi in January 2025 were Singapore, Japan, Thailand, the United States, and Malaysia. Export activities of Jambi Province are carried out through ports in and outside Jambi.

"Export activities in January 2025 through ports in Jambi reached to US$78.89 million, with details of commodities originating from Jambi amounting to US$77.34 million and commodities originating from outside Jambi amounting to US$1.55 million. Meanwhile, exports of Jambi Province that passed through ports outside Jambi reached US$93.08 million," he concluded.
