Section 4 of Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road to complete in 2025

The Public Works Ministry is continuing the construction of the 170.73 km Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road. This toll road is part of the the Trans Sumatra Toll Road's main corridor network structure to improve connectivity between regions spanning 2,107 kilometer (km) from the provinces of Lampung to Aceh.
The Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road is aimed to integrate regional connectivity, as well as improve the distribution of goods from industrial centers in the Palembang-Jambi corridor. It is planned to have 5 interchanges, namely Interchange Betung, Interchange Tungkal Jaya, Interchange Bayung Lencir, Interchange Tempino Jambi, and Interchange Ness. This toll road is also connected to the Palembang-Jambi part of the national road in Sumatra to support the development of areas it passes through.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that toll roads are needed to accelerate the distribution of goods and services, increase logistics efficiency, and reduce transportation costs.
"Because it is expected to reduce travel time between regions in the logistics sector, it is [also] expected to encourage the growth of new economic centers," he added on June 6, 2025.
The construction of the Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road is being supervised out by construction state-owned enterprise (SOE) PT Hutama Karya with a total investment of Rp21.02 trillion. The toll road work is divided into four sections, with Sections 1 and 2 further divided into two subsections, respectively.
The 62 km Section 1 Betung-Tungkal Jay was worked on by construction SOEs PT Adhi Karya and PT Hutama Karya alongside private contractor PT Jaya Konstruksi. For the construction progress its subsections, the 30.8 km has reached 27.62 km completion while the 31.58 km Section 1B has reached 1.7 percent completion.
The 56 km Section 2 Tungkal Jaya-Bayung Lencir was worked on by construction SOEs PT PP and PT Nindya Karya. For the construction progress its subsections, the 37.36 km Section 2A and the 18.4 km Section 1B has reached 3.88 percent and 5.86 percent completion, respectively.
The 34.1 km Section 3 Banyung Lencir-Tempino has finished construction and in operation since the end of 2024. Moreover, the 18.49 km Section 4 Tempino-Interchange Ness in Muara Jambi Regency is currently undergoing accelerated construction, with its land acquisition and construction progress reaching 98.72 percent and 80.04 percent completion, respectively. Section 4 of the Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road is targeted for completion in 2025.
