The Banyuasin Regency Government welcomed PT Semen Baturaja representative Wira Nugraha's plan to establish an interlocking brick factory in the regency. Banyuasin Regency Regional Secretary Erwin Ibrahim emphasized that the regency government is ready to facilitate permitting and support the factory's other technical needs.

"In line with the Banyuasin Regent's direction, we will coordinate with related regional offices to review aspects of spatial planning, environmental impact analysis, and the interlocking brick industry's potential. We want to ensure that this investment can run smoothly and provide benefits to the local community," he stated on Mar. 11, 2025.

Meanwhile, Wira considered Banyuasin as a strategic location to support the growth of the construction industry in South Sumatra. Interlocking bricks, which are offered as the factory's main product have several advantages over conventional bricks, which include being more earthquake-resistant, the bricks also reducing the use of cement and plaster and making them more environmentally friendly, faster installation process, a more varied aesthetic design suitable to various modern building needs.

"Interlocking bricks are an innovation in infrastructure that is more efficient and environmentally friendly [compared to standard bricks]. We hope for full support from the Banyuasin Regency Government so the investment could be realized immediately," he said.

The investment is expected to both improve Banyuasin Regency's construction industry to create jobs and support the decent housing program that is being promoted by the local government. Banyuasin aims to further strengthen its position as one of the centers of economic growth in South Sumatra.
