The Lebaran Topat cultural event was again held by the West Lombok Regency Government at Duduk Batulayar Beach in Batulayar Village, Batulayar District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province on Apr. 7, 2025. Lebaran Topat is a dhikr ritual for local residents after carrying out the Syawal fast following Idul Fitri.

Yesterday, thousands of visitors came to Duduk Batulayar Beach before the Lebaran Topat ceremony after ziarah (pilgrimage) to the Batulayar grave. After the ziarah, West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini "LAZ" and West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Head Office Jamaludin Malady headed to the Lebaran Topat location.

The West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Office also plans to  propose the Lebaran Topat event to be included in the Indonesian Tourism Ministry's Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) list of regional events and festivals.

Jamaludin emphasized that this cultural event must not be lost, and it must continue to be preserved.

"Lebaran Topat does not only belong to the people of West Lombok [Regency] but also to the entire people of West Nusa Tenggara, especially the five regencies on Lombok Island," he said.

Hence, Jamal continued, the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government will propose for Lebaran Topat's inclusion in KEN to the Ministry of Tourism. If included, it would join Perang Topat, another West Lombok Regency cultural event which is held at the Pura Lingsar Hindu temple.

LAZ stated that Lebaran Topat is a characteristic tradition of West Lombok Regency.

"Lebaran Topat must be packaged more attractively, so that outsiders will come to witness it," he added.

LAZ noted that the event must be organized on a larger scale beyond the regency level up to the provincial level, up to the national scale. With a larger scale, of course the economic impact will be even better for the community.

"Moreover, [an additional] series of activities can be held a week before or after Lebaran Topat, it will definitely have an impact on the people," he said.

For example, said LAZ, there could be another event held after Lebaran Topat continuously so that the area remains lively and attracts tourists to visit.

"What we are targeting are foreign tourists who want to spend Idul Fitri in West Lombok [Regency] and visit Lombok [Island], for the Lebaran Topat event," he said.
