JN Optimizes Ferry Services

ASDP Indonesia Ferry subsidiary Jembatan Nusantara (JN) is enhancing ferry services across more than 20 regions in Indonesia to boost connectivity and local economic growth.

JN Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin stated that JN has expanded its service areas since ASDP acquired it in 2022, aiming to lead in safety standards and excellent service delivery.

"Our commercial ferry services focus on supporting the movement of people and logistics, especially in areas only accessible by ferry," said Shelvy in a statement on Jun. 3, 2024.

JN serves 21 routes with its fleet of 53 ferries. They include Air Putih-Sei Selari, Amolengo-Labuan, Bajoe-Kolaka, Balikpapan-Mamuju, Balikpapan-Pare Pare, Balikpapan-Taipa Palu, Bardan-Siantan, Batam-Bintan, Batam-Kuala Tungkal, Batam-Sei Selari, Batulicin-Tanjung Serdang, Dumai-Rupat, Kariangau-Penajam, Kayangan-Pototano, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Lembar-Ketapang, Lembar-Padangbai, Merak-Bakauheni, Surabaya-Ende, Surabaya-Labuan Bajo, and Tanjung Api-Api-Muntok.

For long-distance Balikpapan-Pare Pare route, JN operates KMP Swarna Bahtera which accommodates 4,538 gross tonnage with a 34-hour travel time.

"JN's services are vital for logistics distribution in Central and Eastern Indonesia as well as inter-island mobility," Shelvy added.

ASDP is also advancing its digitalization by launching online ferry ticket reservations at Bajoe and Kolaka ports starting Jun. 3, 2024. Shelvy emphasized ASDP's goal to implement e-ticketing at all its ports.

"Our current focus is on digitalizing ports outside Java. E-ticketing is expected to enhance mobility and logistics in remote and 3T regions," Shelvy explained.
