Jayapura maps investment potential into four development areas
WINDONESIA October 10, 2025
The Jayapura Regency Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) has compiled a map of investment potential and opportunities in Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, dividing it into four development areas.
Jayapura Regency DPMPTSP Head Alex Rumbobiar stated in Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, on Sep. 12, 2025, that the mapping for investment potential will make it easier for investors to identify leading sectors that can be developed in each area.
"With this map, investment opportunities in 19 districts can be more targeted. For example, Development Area 1 encompasses [part of] the Cycloop Nature Reserve and Lake Sentani. It includes the districts of East Sentani, Sentani, Ebungfaum and Waibu," he said.
According to Alex, investment potential in Development Area 1 includes tourism, industry, forestry, ports, and freshwater fisheries.
"Development Area 2 encompasses [part of] the Cycloop Nature Reserve and coastal areas. It includes the districts of Raveni Rara, Depapre, West Sentani, Yokari, and Demta," he said.
Alex explained that the investment potential in Development Area 2 is equally significant, particularly in marine fisheries, tourism, and container port development.
"Meanwhile, Development Area 3 covers the Grime area [of Grime Nawa Valley], namely the districts of Kemtuk, Kemtuk Gresi, South Gresi, Nimboran, Nimbokrang, and Nambluong. This area is geared toward small-scale agriculture and livestock farming, agropolitan plantations, mining, and industry," he added.
In addition, Alex said that Development Area 4 covers the Nawa area [of Grime Nawa Valley], consisting of the Unurum Guay, Yapsi, Kaureh, and Airu Districts. Its main investment potential is in forestry, large-scale plantations, hydropower plants, large-scale agriculture and livestock farming, as well as transportation and industrial infrastructure.
"This mapping [of investment potential in Jayapura Regency] is important so that the economic potential of all districts could be maximized according to their respective regional characteristics. Each district has different advantages, it's just a matter of how we attract investors," he concluded.
