Here are 5 must-visit tourist attractions in Bulungan Regency before leaving North Kalimantan, the Land of Benuanta:

1. Bulungan Sultanate Museum

This tourist attraction, located in Tanjung Palas District, showcases historic buildings that were once part of the Bulungan Sultanate. The museum is a replica of the Bulungan Sultanate Palace, which was rebuilt on Bulungan Regency's anniversary back in Oct. 12, 1998.

There are many Bulungan Sultanate relics in the museum, such as kris traditional daggers, tables, Dutch cannons, and historical photos. In addition to being a tourist attraction, the museum also serves as an educational facility about the Bulungan Sultanate's history and relics.

"We can enjoy this historical tourist attraction at the Bulungan Sultanate Museum for free," he mentioned.

2. Mangkupadi Beach and Tanah Kuning Tourism Village

Beaches are one of the most sought-after tourist destinations by both domestic and international tourists. Bulungan itself has the famous Mangkupadi Beach and Tanah Kuning Tourism Village in Tanjung Palas District that is crowded on both holidays and regular days.

This tourist location located about 18-20 kilometers from Tanjung Selor District, the capital district of Bulungan Regency, offers a comfortable and beautiful beach destination. The entrance fee is quite affordable at only Rp 2,000 per person.

3. Mount Putih

Mt. Putih is a must-visit tourist attraction when in Bulungan. This limestone mountain, which reaches approximately 14,252 feet or 4,344 meters high, is located in Tanjung Palas District. It takes less than 30 minutes from Tanjung Selor to reach this tourist attraction.

Visitors can also enjoy the beauty of Tanjung Selor and Tanjung Palas, divided by the Kayan River, from the mountain peak. Stairs have been provided to reach said peak, making it easier for visitors to climb.

"There are approximately 120 steps. Interestingly, no visitor has managed to count the number of steps accurately. The results always vary," Gunawan said.

4. Sebakut Waterfall

In addition to the waterfall attraction, this destination is also known for having a 46-hectare social forestry area located in Antuntan Village, Tanjung Palas District.

Sebakut Waterfall reaches about 10 meters high with a fairly strong water flow into a rocky river surrounded by lush forests. Moreover, facilities such as triangle-shaped houses are provided for visitors who wish to stay overnight.

5. Kayan Riverside Park

The Kayan Riverside Park is worth visiting as it offers the distinctive atmosphere of the Land of Benuanta. The view of the Kayan River in the afternoon, adorned with passing boats, adds a romantic atmosphere to Kayan Riverside Park.

Many young people choose to spend their afternoons at Kayan Riverside Park, enjoying food and chatting leisurely. This has made Kayan Riverside Park consistently popular with visitors.

The presence of a food court along the riverbank is also a significant attraction for people to visit Kayan Riverside Park. Additionally, social and cultural events are often showcased at the park.
