Fakfak Regency brought South Korean investors for Fakfak Agroindustry Project

Fakfak Regent Samaun Dahlan brought investors from South Korea to realize the Fakfak Agroindustry Project. He explained on May 20, 2025, that the 50,000 hectare (ha) initiative in Fakfak Regency, West Papua Province is targeted to host corn, sugar cane, and oil palm plantations.
"We have held a strategic meeting in Bomberai District [about the planned investment]. The meeting's agenda includes technical discussions related to land distribution maps, cultivation zoning plans, and identification of priorities," said Samaun.
"This project is predicted to be the core of a new integrated agricultural-based economic area in Papua," he added.
The project also contributes to job creation and increasing the income of Fakfak Regency's people.
"It also plays a strategic role in strengthening regional food security and supporting equitable economic development in Eastern Indonesia," Samaun noted.
He also divulged that the corn, sugar cane and palm oil commodities were selected based on an initial study of the suitability of the local climate and land carrying capacity in Tomage District and its surrounding areas.
During the joint visit with South Korean investors to Bomberai District, Fakfak Regency, West Papua on May 19, 2025; Samaun was accompanied by Military District 1803/Fakfak Commander Col. Lukman Permana, Fakfak Regency Plantation Office Head Widhi Asmoro Jati, Fakfak Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office Head Abu Talib Pauspaus, as well as Fakfak Regency Agriculture and Food Security Office Head Mohamad Sholeh.
