Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman announced that two crude palm oil (CPO) factories will invest and operate in the Negeri Selawang Segantang area. The oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) processing factory will be located in Perlang Village, Lubukbesar District, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Puput Village, Simpangkatis District.

"Insya Allah, the one in Perlang can operate by June, while the one in Puput Village is still in the licensing process," stated Algafry Mar. 25, 2025.

To facilitate the investment, Algafry requested support from the Central Bangka Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) to help with the needed steps.

Central Bangka DPRD Speaker Batianus gave his appreciation for the investment plan to Central Bangka Regency, especially the CPO factory which will be in operation soon. He hopes that the investment can employ local workers, since Central Bangka Regency's unemployment rate has increased significantly after layoffs by several companies in the region.

Batianus assessed that oil palm farmers have so far had difficulty selling their FFB, especially those from the districts of Koba and Lubukbesar.

"That is because of the closure of two factories in Central Bangka Regency," he explained

He hopes that with the two CPO factories could help decrease the regency's open unemployment rate.
