The Bangli Regency Government in Bali Province is attracting investment for eco-friendly inland waterway cruise vessels and other tourism infrastructure that will operate on Lake Batur in Kintamani District, Bangli Regency.

"This is proof that Bangli has attractive potential for investors," said Bangli Regent Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta in a written statement received in Denpasar City, Bali on Sep. 26, 2025.

He added that the proposed investment is environmentally friendly, with the cruise vessels utilizing renewable energy, such as hydrogen and solar energy, alongside liquefied natural gas (LNG), which causes less pollution than diesel fuel used by boats when burned. Sedana Arta viewed the approach as part of the sustainable future for tourism by reducing carbon footprint and enabling the exploration of eco-friendly destinations on Lake Batur, Bali's largest lake.

In addition to eco-friendly cruise vessels, he divulged that electric-powered water sports, an electric tourist train, a sky capsule, and a rail bike are also planned to be developed around the Lake area

To mark the collaboration, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the Bangli Regency region-owned enterprise (ROE) PT Bukthi Mukthi Bakthi (BMB) and PT GMS Invest Internasional, which is affiliated with South Korean company Kanavi Mobility, at the Bangli Regent's Office.

PT BMB President Director Anak Agung Wibawa Putra stated that the MoU will serve as a foundation for more concrete cooperation. He added that PT BMB could develop various strategic projects that will increase regional competitiveness through the support of its partners.

"With foreign investment in this project, we, as the initiator, will form a consortium with Kanavi Mobility to implement this project with GMS," he said.

Anak Agung added that the projects to be built by the consortium include the operation of environmentally friendly electric ships, as well as the development and operation of a recreational water sports complex utilizing electric boats equipped with new technology from Korea.

Meanwhile, Kanavi Mobility President Director Song Gi Men said that Bangli Regency has significant potential, especially in the tourism sector.

"We see a significant investment opportunity in Bangli. We are committed to making a positive contribution to the development of this region," he said.
