OJK: Central Kalimantan Stock Investors Surpass 16,000 People

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) branch for Central Kalimantan Province reported continuous positive developments in the local capital markets sector. That is shown by a significant increase in those investing in stocks, which rose by 16,365 peopleyear-on-year (yoy) as of March 2024.

"The number of investors in the capital market reached 101,069 people as of March 2024, up from 84,704 in March 2023 and 64,385 in March 2022," OJK Central Kalimantan Head Primandanu Febriyan Aziz said in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan on Jun. 11, 2024.

The total value of shares being invested in Central Kalimantan also saw a substantial increase, reaching almost Rp4.74 trillion as of March 2024, compared to about Rp1.49 trillion in March 2023 and about nearly Rp1.12 trillion in March 2022.

However, the nominal value of share transactions in March 2024 decreased by Rp190.33 billion yoy to Rp210.3 billion, continuing the downward trend from Rp400.6 billion in March 2023 and Rp411.76 billion in March 2022.

Meanwhile, the number of mutual fund agents' clients, both individual and institutional, also showed positive trends. The number of individual clients of mutual fund agents reached 1,274, while the agents' institutional clients number three institutions.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has increased public awareness of the importance of having emergency funds and investing in the capital market. This, coupled with advancements in digital infrastructure, has made it easier for people to invest," Primandanu explained.
