North Sulawesi Financing Industry Disbursed Rp7.33 Trillion of Loans in January

Financial Services Authority (OJK) Head for North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Maluku (Sulutgomalut) Winter Marbun said that the North Sulawesi Province financing industry had disbursed loans of up to Rp7.33 trillion until January 2024.

"The performance of finance companies in North Sulawesi Province experienced positive growth, which is reflected in disbursed financing rising by by 8.04 percent in January 2024." Winter said in Manado on May 29, 2024.

He added that the number of contracts obtained by finance companies declined by 13.26 percent yoy to 574,765 units in the same period. But their non-performing financing fell from 2.92 percent in January 2023 to 2.85 percent in January 2024.

The OJK official noted that the forms of financing companies in North Sulawesi include venture capital, pension funds, life insurance, general insurance and financial technology (fintech) lending services.

"All these financing companies are supervised by the OJK, so the public do not need to worry about getting financing from any of them," he said.

Winter admitted that there are many financing companies in North Sulawesi, but they are largely supervised by the OJK.

"If there is a financing company that is not registered with the OJK, it means that people have to be cautious [of them]," he explained.
