Maluku Province Tourism Office Head Achmad Jais Ely expect the Beta Indonesia Festival to have significant impact on promoting tourism in the province.

"This will be the first time the national-scale event in Ambon will be held. We are also showcasing Maluku's charm during this festival," Jais said in Ambon on May 17, 2024.

The Beta Indonesia Festival, which has "Beta Indonesia, Beta Maluku" as its theme, is a series of activities initiated by the Governor of Maluku to highlight the vast potential of Indonesia, particularly from the people of Maluku as part of a prominent Eastern Indonesian province.

Maluku is known for its high cultural diversity, and it has many individuals with potential for greater heights in various fields such as sports, music, and more.

"The Beta Indonesia Festival was conceived to involve as much of the people of Maluku's potential as possible to bring a message of harmony and peace in the post-election atmosphere," he said.

The festival will combine two major events. First is a triathlon, a multisport event comprised of swimming, cycling, and running which the Maluku Provincial Government will accompany with a cultural and arts parade. The second is a tourism and trade exhibition/expo.

"The expected outcome [of both events] is the showcase of Maluku in general and of Ambon City in particular as a tourist destination. Besides having extraordinary natural beauty, it [the city] also has other potential [aspects] that could be developed for the progress of its people," Jais explained.

In addition, Beta Indonesia Festival is expected to become an annual event in Maluku that features a triathlon which promotes the potential of Maluku's young athletes.

"We want to enrich the public's knowledge about traditional and modern arts and culture, as well as develop local arts and culture for promotion," he added.

The Beta Indonesia Festival will take place from April 19 to 21, 2024, in Ambon, Maluku, featuring a series of sports activities including the triathlon, combined with the Maluku Cultural Festival, trade exhibitions, tourism showcases, and spectacular performances.
