CAVE AI LOTUS Museum Presents Prince Matangaji's Struggle

The Kasepuhan Sultanate's palace in Cirebon City, West Java Province has a new tourist destination, namely the CAVE Artificial Intelligence (AI) Historical Time Corridor (LOTUS) Museum. The museum will be opened to the public from Nov. 1, 2024.

The CAVE AI LOTUS Museum is a film with AI visuals that tells the history of Prince Matangaji's struggle against the invaders. Prince Matangaji was the 5th Sultan Sepuh who was skilled at fighting with guerrilla strategies.

Tourism Ministry Destination and Infrastructure Development Deputy Hariyanto stated that the CAVE AI LOTUS Museum is the government's effort to introduce the history and culture of Cirebon through AI technology.

"The development of information technology, including its impact on socio-cultural developments, is very fast. An example of a response to that [phenomenon] is to make use of information technology through this CAVE AI Museum," he said on Oct. 30, 2024.

Hariyanto further noted that the Keraton Kasepuhan in Cirebon City was chosen to be the site for a pilot project in the destination development program through AI technology.

"The Tourism Ministry will continue to coordinate with the Creative Economy Ministry and the Culture Ministry to support [the project] together," he explained.

Meanwhile, Kasepuhan Sultanate Patih Anom Prince Raja Muhammad Nusantara hopes that the new tourist destination coul educate the public about history in an interactive way through innovative technology.

"This is the government's effort to educate the public about art and culture," he added.

Separately, Culture and Tourism Office Head Agus Sukmanjaya appreciated the existence of the CAVE AI LOTUS museum at the Kasepuhan Sultanate's palace.

"Of course we will help promote [CAVE AI LOTUS Museum] with the target of increasing tourist visits to the city of Cirebon," he said.
