A digital investment gallery was officially launched by the Jayapura Regency Communication and Informatics Agency (Diskominfo) on May 27, 2024 in collaboration with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), and Philips Indonesia's Papua Region branch.

Jayapura Regency Diskominfo Head Gustaf Griapon said in Sentani on May, 27, 2024, that the digital investment gallery is intended to support the ongoing digital literacy program.

"The digital literacy program is currently being implemented by the Jayapura Regency Diskominfo to support the development of Papua's human resources, particularly in this area [Jayapura]," he said.

According to Gustaf, another key reason for the digital investment gallery's founding is to increase the knowledge of Jayapura Regency residents about the Indonesian capital market industry.

"This is marked by the opening of the IDX digital investment gallery in Jayapura Regency, and it is hoped that more networks will disseminate information about investment and financing facilities in the capital market," he said.

Gustaf explained that the presence of the digital investment gallery will further increase the number of investors through financial literacy to civil servants, village officials, and the local public.

"We hope that civil servants [as well as] residents in 139 villages and five sub-districts could directly participate as digital investors in stock trading, thereby improving public welfare," he said.

Gustaf also said that the digital investment gallery will support the empowerment of indigenous Papuans through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

"The local public will certainly benefit from business capital in the form of CSR through the collaboration between the [Jayapura Regency] Diskominfo, the IDX, and Philips Indonesia in the Papua region" he said.

Meanwhile, Jayapura Regency Regional Secretariat Economic Affairs and Development Assistant II Delila Giay welcomed the cooperation between the Jayapura Regency Diskominfo, the IDX, and Philips Indonesia in Papua Province.

"The [Jayapura Regency] Diskominfo's introduction of stock [trading] to civil servants and the public is a significant step forward amid current technological developments, thereby enhancing their economy," she said.

The inauguration of the digital investment gallery was also marked by the launch of capital market literacy and inclusion to become capital market investors for 1,000 civil servants and residents of Jayapura Regency.
