Jambi Governor Al Haris met with Yasa Patria Perkasa (Yasa Construction)'s leadership on July 16, 2024, to explain plans to build an industrial road towards the Ujung Jabung Port, which is estimated to be worth trillions of rupiah.

"This is a big dream goal that was initiated by my predecessor. Jambi is in the middle of Sumatra Island, [but] all the surrounding provinces have ports while Jambi doesn't. In fact, Jambi has a large sea that directly faces the [rest of the] South China Sea, Batam, and so on," Al Haris explained.

"By building Ujung Jabung, we can open access to transport our natural resources. We have abundant CPO (crude palm oil), coal and oil. This will really support Jambi's economy in the future, [therefore] I think it would be ideal for Jambi Province to have a port," he added.

The investment process starts with a presentation to Yasa Construction.

"As a follow-up, the company will conduct a survey and we will apply for a permit. We will also request the support of BPN (National Land Agency) Regional Office (Jambi Land Office) Head later," Al Haris explained.

Meanwhile, Yasa Construction Director Riza expressed his company's interest for potential investment in Jambi.

"We were invited by the Jambi Governor for this presentation, and we are very interested in the investment potential here. We hope that the investment we do can have a positive economic impact on the people of Jambi," he said.

Riza also emphasized the importance of carrying out the administrative process correctly so that there are no problems in the future.

"Insya Allah, we will ensure everything goes well so that the private sector feels safe and the regional government['s work] goes smoothly," Riza said.

"Insya Allah, the [investment] value we have prepared is more than Rp4 trillion based on our initial calculations," he added.

Yasa Construction was initially offered the coal-hauling road project by the Jambi Provincial Government.

"We see a bigger economic impact [in infrastructure and industrial development], so we are proposing [for the development of] infrastructure and industrial areas," Riza concluded .

With this project, Al Haris hopes to realize the big dream of building the Ujung Jabung port and encourage significant economic growth in Jambi.
