An SPP will be built in Bantaeng Regency

Bantaeng Regent Uji Nurdin conveyed after holding a meeting with investors from PT UPC Renewables Indonesia at the JHL Solitaire Building in the Gading Serpong area of Tangerang Regency, Banten Province on Mar. 16, 2025 that Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi, will soon have a solar power plant (SPP) with an investment value reaching tens of trillions of rupiah.
"The company that will invest in the construction of this SPP is a multinational company, and this will make history as the largest investment in Bantaeng," said Nurdin, the youngest regent in South Sulawesi history.
The 200 megawatts (MW)-capacity SPP will be built in the Bantaeng Industrial Park in Pajukukang District on an area spanning 150 hectares (ha). The SPP's constrction is in line with the government's programs in developing environmentally friendly renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and reducig the use of natural resources.
"We hope that the SPP could not only supply electricity needs, but also create employment opportunities for the people of Bantaeng and become an alternative tourist attraction," added Nurdin.
PT UPC Renewables Indonesia Director Dacre Purchase welcomed the collaboration. He said that Bantaeng Regency has great potential in developing renewable energy.
"In addition to solar panels, Bantaeng also has good wind for the development of wind power," said Purchase.
