Russian state-owned enterprise (SOE) State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom plans to invest in Indonesia's nuclear industry by building a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Rosatom is the largest company in the world which is engaged as a vendor in the nuclear industry, especially NPPs.

The Industry Ministry is encouraging the optimization of the utilization ashpalt from Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi Province to support the achievement of national asphalt self-sufficiency. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Southeast Sulawesi Province reported that the Southeast Sulawesi economy experienced 5.4 percent cumulative annuual growth (c-to-c) in 2024, up from 5.35 percent c-to-c in 2023. BPS Southeast Sulawesi Acting Head Surianti Toar explained that, in terms of production, the industrial manufacturing business field recorded the highest cumulative annual growth at 12.98 percent.

Realized investment to Southeast Sulawesi Province from January to September 2024 reached Rp8.32 trillion, or 37.81 percent of the target set by the central government. Southeast Sulawesi Regional Secretary Asrun Lio stated that the achievement was still within the realistic range of the Rp25.61 trillion realized investment target for 2024.
