Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has officially closed the Likupang Tourism Festival (LTF) 2024 and the First Session of the United Cities and Local Government Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Executive Bureau 2024 at Paradise Hotel Likupang in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province.

In his speech, Sandiaga highlighted that the simultaneous hosting of the two events was a strategic move to promote Likupang as one of Indonesia's five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP). He emphasized that LTF 2024 is among the 100 events listed in the Kemenparekraf event calendar, Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN).

LTF 2024 coincided with the First Session of the UCLG ASPAC Executive Bureau 2024 , which is attended by hundreds of regional government delegates from 11 Asia Pacific countries. These events served as powerful promotional platforms to introduce Likupang to both domestic and international tourists.

"Likupang is one of the fiveDPSP that the government will continue to develop in the coming years. Events like the UCLG ASPAC and the LTF are crucial promotional opportunities not only for North Minahasa and Likupang but for all the people in North Sulawesi," Sandiaga stated according to the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry website.

Sandiaga also commended North Minahasa Regent Joune Ganda for successfully hosting international-class events in his region.

"This should inspire other regional governments to attract international events to their areas," he added.

The first UCLG ASPAC session meeting resulted in the North Minahasa Declaration, which includes:
1. The establishment of a maritime hub in North Minahasa.
2. Support for improving the quality of education in five North Minahasa schools by the Guangzhou City Government of China.
3. Development of green tourism in North Minahasa.
4. Human resource development to support ecotourism.

North Minahasa Regent Joune Ganda expressed optimism that these events would effectively showcase Likupang's beauty to an international audience, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. He hopes the North Minahasa declaration will benefit the local community.

"I hope that the efforts and activities undertaken by the current government, at both the central and provincial levels, along with the North Minahasa Regency Government, will continue to receive public support. We all understand that this is for our mutual progress, for the advancement of North Minahasa Regency," said Joune.
