WINDONESIA April 7, 2025
PT Sokonindo Automobile, which sells Chinese automotive brands DFSK and Seres in Indonesia, is ready to increase its investment in order to produce more electric vehicle (EV) variants at its factory in Cikande District, Serang Regency, Banten Province.
PT Sokonindo Director of Sales Center Cing Hok Rifin explained that the cimpaby was proud to contribute towards accelerating the adoption of sustainable transportation. He added that their EV models for light commercial and passenger use had been well received by the Indonesian people.
"Therefore, we are pleased to be able to present our vision and commitment to the Indonesian market through our new prototype cars, various strategic expansion plans, and interesting programs that we can offer to Indonesia," he said in Jakarta on Mar. 26, 2025.
Currently, the factory in Cikande District has assembled DFSK Gelora E and Seres E1 EVs. The factory has also implemented robotics for up to 80 percent in the production process, from stamping, welding, to painting. With a production capacity of up to 50,000 units per year, PT Sokonindo is also targeting exports to Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
PT Sokonindo has presented the electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) model Seres E3 which IT will introduce to the Indonesian market soon. Cing Hok explained that the EV will be marketed to urban and professional people who crave a stylish EV with good performance. The car will be produced at the local DFSK and Seres factories in Cikande District. Although what has been shown of Seres E3 to the public was still a unit wrapped in ancamouflage sticker, the company ensures that the design shown is final, and the model is ready to enter production.
Cing Hok said that the export market is being targeted because they want to maximize the investment in the Cikande Dustrict factory that DFSK has built since 2017. He added that through the factory in Indonesia, his party will try to boost the local content component/requirement (TKDN).
"Yes, it [TKDN or 40 percent local content requirement] must be pursued, now it is being processed," he said.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, PT Sokonindo Automobile is running a 'Zero Emission Fund' campaign with a total funding of Rp200 billion to facilitate faster and more affordable transition to EVs for consumers who have conventional vehicles. The program allows onsumers to take advantage of a Rp51 million subsidy for every purchase of the Gelora E and Seres E1 models by trading in their old vehicles. Thus, it is expected to increase awareness and interest in EVs that are more environmentally friendly and efficient.
Meanwhile, DFSK held the Siaga Mudik campaign during Mar. 28 to Apr. 7, 2025, period where the company provided emergency service facilities, 24-hour standby workshops, and light service at dealers in less than an hour which can be obtained by consumers at various dealers such as DFSK Pondok Indah, DFSK Pluit, DFSK Bandung Kulon, DFSK Cirebon, DFSK Yogyakarta, DFSK Hajimena Lampung, and DFSK AR Hakim Surabaya.
