Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024, a World-Class "Sportainment" Event

Pertamina returns to the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia-MotoGP 2024 and the Asia Road Racing Championship (AARC) at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in 2024.
In addition to being a race, this competition has also proven to have an economic impact, particularly on the people in West Nusa Tenggara. This impact includes an increase in tourist interest and contribution to the economy of the Lombok community, benefiting both local entrepreneurs and the regional economy.
State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir added that the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia-MotoGP 2024 and the ARRC event are not just world-class motorcycle racing events. According to Erick, this world-class event is also a great opportunity for sports tourism in Indonesia, which will contribute to the country's foreign exchange earnings. In recent years, the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit has proven capable of enhancing Indonesia's national branding on a global level and contributing to elevating Indonesia's reputation globally.
“We have the opportunity to attract the world's attention while providing maximum benefits for the community and the local economy, as well as establishing Mandalika as the ultimate sportainment lifestyle destination. I am optimistic that the ARRC and Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia-MotoGP are not just motorcycle races, but also golden opportunities to promote Indonesia, particularly Mandalika, as a world-class sportainment destination,” Erick said .
Pertamina Deputy President Director Wiko Migantoro stated that last year's 2023 MotoGP race made history for Mandalika with the total number of visitors reaching 103,000, which corresponded with a total increase of Rp700 million in the revenue of 50 Pertamina small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that participated in the international event.
“In 2024, Pertamina will still involve more than 50 SMEs and it is expected to contribute even more than the previous year to the local economy,” Wiko explained .
Pertamina's involvement is a realization of its commitment to bringing international motorsport to Indonesia, with the hope of creating opportunities for business development on a global scale and supporting national economic growth in the future.
In addition, Pertamina, through its subsidiary Pertamina Lubricants, has also joined MotoGP as a partner of the VR46 Racing Team, under the name Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. This world class partnership collaboration represents Pertamina's ongoing efforts to remain a major player in the international automotive industry. It serves as proof that the VR46 Racing Team and Valentino Rossi place high trust in Pertamina Enduro's international quality.
“The VR46 Racing Team is Valentino Rossi's racing team. The partnership between VR46 and Pertamina started in 2024 and will continue until 2026, featuring Pertamina Lubricants' flagship product, Pertamina Enduro,” Wiko explained .
At the same occasion, Pertamina corporate Communication Vice President Fadjar Djoko Santoso added that besides hosting, in 2024 Pertamina is also participating in the MotoGP event through the participation of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
“We fully support the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024 event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit with the MotoGP pride team, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Hopefully, they can achieve the best results at Mandalika,” Fadjar explained.
