Pekanbaru City has successfully achieved an investment value of Rp5.7 trillion in 2024. Domestic investments accounted for most of the investment value by nearly Rp4.86 trillion from 7,788 projects or activities. Meanwhile, foreign investment contributed Rp843 billion from 604 projects or activities.

Overall, incoming investment from both domestic and foreign investments created 8,392 projects and jobs for 11,935 workers in Pekanbaru City. Pekanbaru City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) Head Akmal Khairi stated that the city's investment achievement exceeded the target that had been set.

"We managed to reach Rp5.7 trillion, exceeding the Rp5.09 trillion target set by the BKPM (Investment Coordinating Board) by 112 percent," he revealed.

Likewise, the realized investment exceeded the Rp4.9 trillion target set by the Pekanbaru City Government by around 116 percent.

Although the investment target was achieved, Akmal highlighted several factors that hampered investment realization. One of them is the lack of supporting activities such as socialization, facilitation, and promotion. In addition, most business actors are just starting their business plans and have not realized their investments. External factors, such as the influence of the global economy, also have an impact on the decisions of some business actors to postpone investments
