Jayawijaya Held Noken Street Fashion 2024

The Jayawijaya Regency Government continues to follow through on its commitment to revitalize tourism to the Highland Papua Province. One of the regency's initiatives is the Noken Street Fashion 2024 event at the Isakusa Urban Forest Park in Wamena District, Jayawijaya Regency, Highland Papua.
The event, which took place over from May 15 to May 16, 2024, was officially opened by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Expert Staff for Innovation and Creativity Restog Krisna Kusuma.
Acting Jayawijaya Regent Sumule Tumbo stated that the Noken Street Fashion 2024 event serves as a platform to highlight and promote the creativity and creations of local designers.
Local designers showcased a variety of fashion items, including clothing, bags, and women's accessories such as hair clips, hats, earrings, and bracelets. Various other local crafts were also displayed by the women of Wamena.
"This event coincides with the pink meadows (owasi-owasika) phenomenon surrounding Wamena City. It is also part of the local government's effort, through its tourism department, to enhance and preserve Wamena's local wisdo," Sumule said.
Additionally, Sumule explained that the Noken Street Fashion event and the natural charm of owasika-owasika provides momentum for promoting sustainable tourism ito Wamena.
"It is hoped that such activities will continue every year to boost the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Wamena," he added.
Sumule also gave his appreciation for the attendance of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Expert Staff and their team to officially open the event.
"The implementation of the Noken Street Fashion in Jayawijaya Regency is the second time it was held after its previous successful edition in 2023. Last year's event [also] coincided with the Cultural Carnival and the Mini Baliem Valley Festival," he concluded.
