East Java, North Maluku trade mission recorded Rp568 billion transaction value in a day

The Trade and Investment Mission between the East Java Provincial Government and the North Maluku Provincial Government held at the Sahid Bela Hotel in Ternate City, North Maluku Province on Mar. 12, 2025 recorded transactions reaching Rp568 billion in one day.
The mission is an economic growth iniative of North Maluku Governor Sherly Laos and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa in support of President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita (eight goals). As part of the mission, Sherly and Khofifah witnessed firsthand several signings of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between businesses from the two provinces.
East Java Governor Khofifah stated during her speech at the occasion that East Java chose North Maluku as the first province for the mission and working visit due to the latter achieving one of the highest economic growth rate among Indonesian provinces by 14 percent year-on-year (yoy) in 2024.
Meanwhile, Sherly requested during her speech for the East Java Governor to invite more businesses from East Java to purchase more products and commodities from North Maluku so its balance of trade (BoT) is no longer in deficit as in previous years.
The total transaction of the Trade and Investment Mission was Rp568.04 billion, with East Java's total sale value to North Maluku reaching Rp271.67 billion while its total purchase value was nearly Rp296.37 billion.
The commodities purchased by East Java businesses from North Maluku include frozen mackerel and largehead hairtail fishes, nutmeg, seaweed, coconut shell charcoal, squid, and whiteleg shrimp. Meanwhile, the commodities sold by East Java to North Maluku businesses encompass fishery products, cigarettes, building materials, frozen chicken, cooking oil, flour, soybeans, horticultural plant seeds, rice, and eggs.
