DPRP Assists Development of Tourism to Waiya Village

The Papuan People's Representative Council (DPRP) is supporting the development of tourist attractions in Waiya Village, Depapre District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province by providing building materials for tourist cabins. DPRP Speaker Jhony Banua Rouw stated in Jayapura on Jun. 7, 2024, that this assistance is intended to help tourist cabin managers enhance tourism in the area.

"We hope this will enable Waiya Village to become widely known for its excellent facilities," he said.

Rouw emphasized that an increase in visitors would positively impact the local community.

"This area boasts beautiful nature, which should be leveraged to attract more visitors," he added.

He also hopes that the local community will use the assistance to improve the tourist cabins in Waiya Village.

Henny Bonai, a tourist cabin manager who received aid, expressed gratitude to the DPRP for their support in developing local tourism.

"Waiya Village has great tourism potential that can be developed to attract visitors," Bonai said.

She added that they plan to build a homestay to boost tourism in Waiya Village.

"With the homestay, we hope to see more visitors coming to Depapre, especially Waiya Village, appreciating not only its natural beauty but also its clean water and environs," she noted.
