Closing Ceremony of Akebay Festival 2024

The Akebay Festival 2024 was officially concluded at Akebay Beach in Maitara Village, North Tidore District, Tidore Islands City, North Maluku Province by the Tidore Islands Deputy Mayor, who was represented by Tidore Islands City Legal, Political, and Government Affairs Expert Staff Azis Hadad.

The closing of the Akebay Festival 2024 was also marked by the launch of the Akebay Studio in Maitara Village, which was symbolized by the beating of the Dolo-dolo drum.

Azis conveyed that the 2024 Akebay Festival featured various activities, including a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Creative Economy expo, Maitara Adventure, Traditional Fishing Competition, Coral Reef Transplantation and Fun Diving, Art Performances, as well as various activities involving local traditions and culture. These activities had a broad scope and involved skilled and creative youths.

"We express our gratitude to all participants and related parties, as well as sponsors, for their support in enlivening the Akebay Festival 2024," he said.

In addition to promoting tourism in Tidore Islands City, especially on Maitara Island, Azis noted that the Akebay Festival also providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere that attracted visitors to explore Maitara Island's natural beauty, beaches, and sea.

Besides Maitara Island, which ranks in the top 10 National Best Tourism Villages of 2023, Tidore also has equally fascinating historical tourism sites.

"Hopefully, this event will always be a reminder and a significant step for the advancement of tourism in Tidore Islands City and North Maluku in general," he stated.

Maluku-Papua Digital Literacy Project Regional Director Thamrin Ali Ibrahim stated the Akebay Maitara Village community's aspiration, which was delivered through their Village Head, is for the 2024 Akebay Festival to not be the last edition. They hope such events will continue in 2025 and beyond, as the conditions and progress of Akebay Village bring positive impacts to the public.

"I express my gratitude and appreciation to all supporters for their cooperation, which allowed the Akebay Festival to run smoothly from the opening to the closing ceremony tonight," Thamrin said.

Meanwhile, Akebay Festival 2024 Organizing Committee Chairman Apriyanto Udin stated that the Akebay Festival 2024, which has 'Innovation and Collaboration for Sustainable Tourism Village Development' as its theme, served as a platform to explore the potential and strengthen synergies in village-based tourism development.

"Over the past three days, from the opening ceremony to tonight's closing, we have witnessed various inspiring activities that received high enthusiasm from the public. Additionally, the Regional Symposium provided new insights into how innovation and collaboration can be key to sustainable tourism village development. We thank all parties for their support and contributions to the 2024 Akebay Festival," he said.

Tidore Islands City Government Protocol and Communication (Prokopim) Section Head Ridwan Hadji informed that the event was attended by the North Maluku Province Culture and Tourism Agency Head Tahmid Wahab, Tidore Islands City Culture and Tourism Agency Head Daud Muhammad, the Tidore Islands Community and Village Empowerment Agency Acting Head, the North Tidore District Leaders Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam), and the Village Heads of Maitara Island.
