Yogyakarta to Hold 2024 Tourism Village Festival

The Yogyakarta City Tourism Office will host the 2024 Tourism Village Festival at XT Square in Umbulharjo Kemantren, Yogyakarta City, from Jun. 21 to 23, 2024.
This event will showcase local entertainment and the tourism potential of Yogyakarta City's tourism villages.
"This festival aims to increase the length of stay of tourists visiting Yogyakarta," Yogyakarta City Tourism Office Tourism Resources Development Head Husni Eko said on Jun. 19, 2024.
"Apart from that, it is also to promote the potential of tourism villages," he added.
Husni explained that the 2024 Tourism Village Festival will involve 24 villages in Yogyakarta. The theme is a night market, complete with folk entertainment rides such as a ferris wheels, ombak banyu, and kora-kora.
"It is hoped that this activity can strengthen branding and highlight the potential of tourist villages," he said.
Additionally, Husni noted that the festival aims to increase tourist visits, boost tourist spending, and extend the duration of stays. The event will feature booths from various tourist villages and a bregodo (Yogyakarta Sultanate soldiery) competition.
Husni hopes the festival will inspire tourist villages to innovate and foster creativity.
"For three days, tourist villages throughout Yogyakarta will showcase their unique attractions, demonstrating the community's enthusiasm for developing tourism potential," he concluded.
