Tual City Park to Become Recreation and Cultural Showcase
July 25, 2024Rini Atbar, the Acting Regional Secretary for Tual City, Maluku Province, announced on July 13, 2024, that the Tual City Park will be transformed into a recreational destination as well as a cultural showcase.
"We have a nice park and square that are often used for events and competitions, but those locations are not well-presented," she said.
Rini explained that tourism icons are very important for the tourism industry because they serve as initial attractions for visitors to a region. Hence, they can ultimately attract more tourists and increase visitor numbers.
She added that tourism icons can be in the form of stunning destinations or places, local traditions, regional cuisine, and handicrafts, all of which will be centered in the city park to turn it into a new tourism icon.
"Thus, tourists visiting Tual City will have easy access to reach this location because it is situated in the city center," she stated.
In line with this program, her team continues to strengthen the development strategy of the city park area as one of the leading destinations in the region.
In the near future, all Tual City Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPDs) will be fully allocated specific duties and functions for managing the city park.
"Therefore, there will be tax corners managed by the [Tual City] Bappeda (Regional Development Planning Agency), culinary spots [overseen] by the [Tual City] Trade and Industry Agency, and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) overseen by the [Tual City] Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency in the city park," she explained.
There will also be a proposal to build a permanent gym in the area within the upcoming budget changes for Tual City, as well as a child-friendly playground to turn the park into a gathering place for the community during leisure time, in the evenings, and on weekends.
"After the anniversary of Tual City, I will launch the reorganization of the city park based on (OPDs) within the local government scope," she concluded.
