Tourism and Creative Economy Minister and Tourism Stakeholders Support Senggigi Reborn
May 6, 2024The West Lombok Regency Tourism Office's efforts to restore Senggigi Village in Batu Layar District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province to its glory through the Senggigi Reborn program received support not just from tourism stakeholders in Senggigi, but also from Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
Sandiaga stated during a creative economy promotion event in Gerimax Indah Village, Narmada District that there are several festivals which the ministry will direct to revive Senggigi, including Sunset Jazz, sports activities, fashion festivals in art markets, and international-scale events like the Iron Man triathlon.
In addition, he also encouraged West Lombok Regency to become a "creative regency" where businesses in the creative economy sector can flourish. Moreover, his ministry will also help facilitate affordable airplane ticket prices to the region.
Support for Senggigi Reborn also comes from tourism industry players in the area through various events, as revealed by several hotel general managers in Senggigi when they were visited by West Lombok Tourism Office Head Agus Gunawan last weekend. Agus has been doing roadshows to various tourism players for quite some time to develop West Lombok's tourism, claiming during a visit to Svarga Resort Lombok that they are more effective than formal meetings.
There are several issues of great concern about the Senggigi Tourism Area, including cleanliness, lighting, and street vendors. Through his visits, Agus hopes to increase synergy and collaboration between the government, tourism businesses, and affected communities.
In addition, he hopes that every hotel will have at least one event to liven up Senggigi. Agus also said West Lombok and the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry hope to collaborate in increasing events not just in Senggigi but also for Sekotong District, West Lombok.
Meanwhile, Svarga Resort plans to hold the Senggigi Svarga Fashion Week, a showcase of hijabi fashion, as a continuation of the previous year's event, a non-alcoholic mixology event based on local ingredients. The previous event, with most of the participants being hotel baristas from Lombok and Bali, was considered successful.
Separately, Aruna Senggigi Resort & Convention plans to have a surprise lineup among its DJs for its live music events. It also plans to have daily events while the upcoming MotoGP Grand Prix of Indonesia at the Mandalika Circuit is being held.
