North Sulawesi Province National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Head Hendro Satrio MK stated that the construction of the Tololiu Supit Bridge in Manado City, North Sulawesi will require a budget of Rp21 billion.

"Next year we will start building the bridge," Hendro said in Manado on Jun. 26, 2024.

He explained that the bridge's construction is intended to replace the tunnel built on the Manado Outer Ring Road (MORR) I, which was constructed earlier.

When entering the tunnel, there is a narrowing of the road, from four lanes to two lanes, he said.

"The construction of the Tololiu Supit Bridge aims to alleviate traffic congestion that still occurs when vehicles enter the tunnel. We will build it next year," Hendro stated.

He further explained that the tunnel will be dismantled once the bridge is completed.

"Previously, we also completed the construction of the Pesawangan Bridge on MORR II, where traffic congestion was frequent due to the road narrowing from four lanes to two lanes. After its completion, the Tololiu Supit Bridge will be our next project," Hendro added.

The land required for the bridge's construction will be provided by the Manado City Government.

"Once the bridge is completed, there will be no more road narrowing causing traffic jams on MORR I and MORR II," he said.
