Three Foreign Countries Participate in TIFF 2024

The Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi Province took place on Aug. 8-12, 2024. Three foreign countries participated in the chrysanthemum flower float parade on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.
"The float parade will be attended by three foreign countries, namely China, Japan, and South Korea," Tomohon City Agriculture Office Head Karel Lala stated in Tomohon on Aug. 10, 2024.
He said that 230,000 stalks of chrysanthemums cultivated by 35 farmer groups and individuals were used by 60 decorators to make 20 decorative floats.
"The [Tomohon] city government is committed to developing chrysanthemums and improving the welfare of flower farmers by continuing to hold TIFF," he said.
Karel added that TIFF is a forum to promote Tomohon as the Flower City. It is hoped that the event could help chrysanthemums cultivated by local farmers enter the export market.
"Farmer groups and individuals who cultivate chrysanthemums feel the direct benefits of holding TIFF," he said.
In addition to the three visiting countries, also participating in the decorated vehicle parade calle the Tournament of Flowers are the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry, Indonesian Heart Foundation (YJI) North Sulawesi, Bank Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Central Asia, Bank SulutGo, PGE Lahendong, PLN, North Sulawesi Regional Police, Financial Services Authority (OJK), General Elections Commission (KPU) North Sulawesi, Pegadaian, Manado City, North Minahasa Regency, Southeast Minahasa Regency, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Bolaang Mongondow Regency, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency, Bitung City, and the North Sulawesi Province.
The 12th edition of TIFF has "Moving Forward, Getting Stronger" as its theme, as the festival is expected to be a foundation for the local people to continue to advance and become stronger in global competition. In addition to presenting a flower-decorated vehicle parade, TIFF 2024 also includes a Floriculture and Investment exhibition.
