Southeast Sulawesi Gained Major Attention at DXI 2024

WINDONESIA May 31, 2024 Visitors coming to see the South

The tourist areas of Wakatobi and Labengki in Southeast Sulawesi Province gained significant attention at the Deep & Extreme Indonesia (DXI) 2024 Exhibition.

DXI 2024 was inaugurated by the Tourism and Creative Ministry's Tourism Products and Event Organizers Deputy Vinsensius Jemadu. The event has "Edge of Tomorrow: Dive Into the Depth of Extreme Sports" as its theme. The exhibition, held at the Jakarta Convention Center, ran for four days from May 30 to June 2, 2024.

Numerous visitors have flocked to the booths of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government and Wakatobi Regency, located side by side, since the event's opening. They showed enthusiasm in inquiring about two of Southeast Sulawesi's premier destinations, the Wakatobi National Park and Labengki tourism village.

Visitors asked about the attractions in Wakatobi and Labengki, how to access those areas, and the various tour packages offered by the participating tour operators.

"We are proud that our two destinations, Wakatobi and Labengki, are quite popular among tourists. In fact, during our trip to Jakarta yesterday, we met Italian tourists on our flight who had just returned from Wakatobi and were highly impressed by its beautiful marine life," Southeast Sulawesi Province Tourism Office Head Belli said in a press release on May 31, 2024.

Belli added that DXI is the largest extreme sports event in Asia, showcasing extreme sports, diving, water sports, and outdoor adventures.

The Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government participates in this exhibition annually, bringing along local tour operators to promote their tour packages. The province's initiative supports the local tourism industry and promotes its tourist destinations to a broader audience, both domestically and internationally.

"We continue to promote the Pride to Travel in Indonesia (BBI) national movement to boost domestic tourist trips. Indonesia's beauty is on par with other countries," he emphasized.

In 2023, Southeast Sulawesi won the overall title at the Proud to Travel in Indonesia Awards (ABBWI) held by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment. In 2024, Labengki was named one of the 50 best national tourism villages.

"We hope that through the DXI 2024 exhibition, our tourist destinations will become more widely known, and our tourism industry can thrive even more post-COVID-19 pandemic," Belli concluded.
