South Sulawesi creates investment acceleration task force
December 4, 2024The South Sulawesi Provincial Government has formed an Investment Acceleration Task Force together with the South Sulawesi Province High Prosecutor's Office and the National Land Agency (BPN) to accelerate the province's economic growth with increased realized investments. South Sulawesi's realized investment target for 2024 is Rp15 trillion.
South Sulawesi Regional Secretary Jufri Rahman divulged that realized investments to the province for this year only reached Rp9.47 trillion as of the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, down from Rp12.41 trillion in Q3 2023. Therefore, the task force was specifically assigned to identify all potential investment targets. Its main task is as an effective source of information if there are investors who want to invest, to being a recipient of their complaints.
The task force was given those duties because the main challenge for investment in South Sulawesi so far has been the lack of information for investors if there are things they want to ask in more detail. In addition, investors sometimes do not know who to report for certain matters if a problem occurs. Meanwhile, Jufri claimed that there are quite a lot of investors interested in the province, but only a few of them have been attracted to invest.
"By forming a task force, I am very sure that there will be an increase in the amount of investment. If we want to be optimistic, the growth target is the same as the national target of 7 percent, plus realized investments as of 2024, then it is projected that investments to South Sulawesi could reach around Rp15 trillion," he explained to reporters on Nov. 12, 2024.
South Sulawesi High Prosecutor Agus Salim said that the task force will later work according to the 'One Stop Solution' strategy. The task force aims to reach solutions for obstacles, related to land, permits, sectoral interests, as well as the interests of each work unit.
"We are also conducting a study related to investment growth and economic growth, which will be implemented in accordance with President Prabowo's direction to [reach] 8 percent, so in South Sulawesi we are encouraging investment together so that it is in line with the economic growth target," he said.
