Acting Central Maluku Regent Rakib Sahubawa inaugurated six cultural heritage sites in Banda District, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. They include, Belgica Fort, Mohammad Hatta's Exile House, Sutan Syahrir's Exile House, Cipto Mangunkusumo's Exile House, Iwa Kusumasumantri's Exile House, and the Banda Resident Complex or "Mini Palace."

The activity was done amid the 2024 Banda Neira Festival at the Mini Palace on Nov. 14, 2024. The festival, which contains a cultural carnival and balang boat attractions, was held to attract tourists to visit Banda Neira Island.

This festival had "Tourism Rises towards Central Maluku as a Window to Eastern Indonesia That Supports the Development of Advanced Maluku and Golden Indonesia" as its theme.

On that occasion, Sahubawa said, this festival reflects the spirit and shared commitment to elevate the tourism and cultural potential of Banda Neira Island so that it continues to be widely known, both nationally and internationally.

"In addition, we also designate the Neira Old Town as a cultural heritage area that will become a leading tourist attraction, considering its high historical value and its meaning for the nation's journey," he concluded.
