Share of Central Kalimantan Exports Through Local Ports Rises
October 18, 2024There are three main ports serving exports from Central Kalimantan Province during August 2024, namely Kumai Port, Pangkalan Bun Port and Sampit Port. The total export value through those three ports are US$65.32 million, US$5.91 million, US$2.87 million for Kumai Port, Pangkalan Bun Port, and Sampit Port, respectively.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Central Kalimantan Agnes Widiastuti said that the US$74.8 million in total of export transporation services through Central Kalimantan ports in August 2024 represents an increase in said local ports' contribution to the province's total export value, which rose from 12.82 percent in July 2024 to 32.02 percent in August 2024.
Meanwhile, transportation services for Central Kalimantan exports through ports in other provinces were worth US$158.81 million, or 67.98 percent, most of which was through Banjarmasin Port that accounted for US$98.35 million, or 42.10 percent, of Central Kalimantan's total export value.
However, the value of exports through ports in the Central Kalimantan region in August 2024 decreased by 24.73 percent year-on-year (yoy) from US$99.37 million in August 2023.
"The value of export services through other provinces in August 2024 decreased by 32.43 percent yoy compared to August 2023, from US$235.02 million to US$158.81 million," Agnes added in a recent official BPS release.
Transportation services for Central Kalimantan exports through other provinces increased yoy at almost all ports except Banjarmasin Port in South Kalimantan Province and Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta. The highest yoy increase for Central Kalimantan exports through other provinces occurred at Kotabaru Port in South Kalimantan, which experienced an increase of US$40.4 million from none at all back in August 2023.
