Saudi investor consortium to invest in Aceh

Aceh Governor Muzakir "Mualem" Manaf stated after meeting with Abdul Karim Bin Abdul Aziz Asishri, the envoy of a consortium of investors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, that the consortium wants to invest in Aceh.
Mualem met Abdul Karim after the inauguration of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Subulussalam. He was accompanied by Acting Aceh Province Regional Secretary Muhammad Diwarsyah, Acting Aceh Assitant Regional Secretary for Governance, Special Autonomy, and Welfare of the Acehnese People Syakir, Aceh Regional Secretariat Administrative Bureau Head Akkar Arafat.
"Alhamdulillah, he [Abdul Karim] expressed the interest of the consortium from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to invest in several sectors in Aceh," Mualem said on Feb. 15, 2025.
he revealed that the consortium of investors is interested in establishing a crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant and establishing a cooking oil factory.
"They are also interested in investing in the fields of electrical energy and mineral mining in Aceh," Mualem added.
He said that Abdul Karim, who is also an envoy of the Grand Mosque and a Professor at Ummul Qura University in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, also invited the people of Aceh to study there.
"We certainly welcome the interest of this consortium, because it is very closely related to my vision, namely 'Islamic, Advanced, Respectable, & Sustainable Aceh,' as well as the mission to implement economic independence based on Aceh's leading sectors," Mualem explained.
He emphasized that the Aceh Provincial Government welcomes the interest of investors from anywhere, as more investment would create more jobs.
"This [investment] certainly has a very positive impact on our efforts to reduce unemployment and eradicate poverty. The multiplier effect of investment in Aceh will open up new business opportunities that will have an impact on our economic growth. We welcome it and will review and coordinate with relevant policy makers. I also offered cooperation in the health sector, because this will also be very beneficial for the people of Aceh," he concluded.
