Ratu Sikumbang charms at Minangkabau Cultural and Culinary Glamor Mahligai Festival 2025

Minang singer Ratu Sikumbang performed at the Minangkabau Cultural and Culinary Glamor Mahligai Festival 2025 at Blok M Square in South Jakarta Administrative City, Jakarta Special Capital Region on Jan. 17, 2025. Going on stage at around 21.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), she charmed the audience with some of her mainstay songs.

"Are you all Minang people? Welcome to the others too," greeted Ratu Sikumbang.

The singer, whose real name is Ratu Prillia Menez, opened her show with Kutang Barendo by Rasyid Efendi, and hundreds of attendees danced to it. She also sang several Minang pop ballads or ratok, including Nyao Pulang Ka Badan, Salah Manimbang, Takicuah in Nan Tarang, Manyuruak in Lalang Sahalai.

The songs, popular among Minang people, were immediately sung along by the audience, both the elderly and the young, singing along to them.

Minangkabau Cultural and Culinary Glamor Mahligai Festival 2025 was held on Jan. 16-19, 2025. The event was enlivened by Minangkabau arts and culture performances, including the pasambahan, piriang, and payuang dances, as well as silek, randai, a Minangkabau cultural parade, and a Minang music concert.

The festival also featured top Minangkabau artists such as the aforementioned Ratu Sikumbang, along with Alfina Braner, Darak Badarak, Kadri Karmila, Mak Pono, Upiak Unyuik, and Komo Ricky.

Visitors enjoyed traditional culinary offerings of the Minang homeland such as kapau rice, durian cindua, lamang tapai, mangkuak cake, ice teka, lotek, martabak kubang, kampiun porridge, lontong pical, Padang satay, kapik banana, and bika.

Minangkabau Cultural and Culinary Glamor Mahligai Festival 2025 not only attracted Minang people in Jakarta, but also the general public and culinary lovers.
