Punakawan Pensiun to present art and social critique

As a form of support for arts and culture that are an important part of sustainable tourism, Travelxism is proud to announce its collaboration as a media partner for a theater performance entitled "Punakawan Pensiun: When I'm Tired of Being Ordinary".
The performance will be held on Jan. 25, 2025, starting at 18.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) at the Culture Park of Yogyakarta (TBY) Concert Hall.
Carried out through collaboration between Tepasu Production and Selasar Theatre of Universitas Gadjah Mada's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Punakawan Pensiun will present a story that is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking.
In this performance, the Punakawan family - Semar and his three children Gareng, Petruk, and Bagong - are trapped in an inner struggle after a major war in the land of Astina. Faced with the pressure to transform from ordinary people to future leaders, they must choose between maintaining their identity as ordinary people or accepting the challenge to power.
Amid the media observing their every move, tension arises. Punakawan Pensiun offers a contemporary adaptation that combines ambition, change, and the meaning of leadership. The story is wrapped in sharp social criticism and tickling satirical comedy, leading the audience to deep reflection on social roles and life choices.
