PNM supports MSMEs’ growth in IKN on 79th Independence Day

Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day carries the theme "New Nusantara, Advancing Indonesia". This theme reflects the aspirations of Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) to continue its mission of supporting the growth and development of Indonesia's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

PNM’s director of operations, Sunar Basuki, expressed optimism that the company could continue to provide financing and business development support for ultra-micro enterprises, even as the government embarks on the relocation of the nation's capital to Nusantara.

He believes that PNM has a significant opportunity to assist the government in promoting economic equity, particularly in East Kalimantan.

“This is a challenge for us to develop digital technology-based service solutions that can reach a larger unbankable population around the new capital, thereby reducing economic disparities,” Sunar said.

To provide optimal services, Sunar emphasized PNM's efforts to maintain liquidity to support the expansion of financing and mitigate potential liquidity challenges by managing reserve liquidity.

“The financing we provide to PNM Mekaar customers is ensured to be used for productive purposes or business capital. This is what maintains the quality of our financing,” he added.

Sunar also welcomed the Financial Services Authority’s (OJK) plan to establish more detailed regulations to improve financing access for MSMEs. He believed this would be a positive development and would encourage the growth of MSMEs across Indonesia.

“Although future competition will be increasingly challenging, PNM will continue to diversify its financing by providing not only financial capital but also intellectual and social capital,” Sunar said.

He also called on all stakeholders to actively collaborate in promoting financial literacy and inclusion for MSMEs, particularly for ultra-micro businesses in Indonesia.
