Malabot Tumbe Festival 2024 closed after maleo eggs procession, Banggai Ube Party
December 12, 2024The 2024 Malabot Tumbe Festival was officially closed by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Creative Industry, Music, Film, and Animation Director Amin Abdullah at the Banggai Laut City Park Square on Dec. 4, 2024.
According to the Banggai Laut Regency Government Protocol and Leadership Communication Section, prior to the closing ceremony there had been a procession of escorting maleo eggs to the Banggai Palace, continued with the Banggai Ube Party which presented 112 culinary innovations made from Banggai ube.
"This tradition has been going on for three consecutive years and has successfully entered the [Tourism Ministry's] Karisma Event Nusantara [list]. I also greatly appreciates this activity, [which] could help grow the economy of Banggai Laut." Banggai Laut Regent Sofyan Kaepa stated.
Meanwhile, Amin conveyed that the festival also sends a message to the world about the need to protect rare endemic animals of Sulawesi. The director also proposed for an international seminar be held to discuss rare endemic animals next year.
From the tourism side, the festival further strengthens the argument that marine tourism has the potential to be developed in Central Sulawesi. The journey of delivering maleo eggs can be an experience offered to tourists.
From the creative economy side, the festival could be a place for transactions, including marine and agricultural raw materials for culinary purposes
