Banten's economic growth surpasses Jakarta in Q1 2025

Banten Province's economy grew by 5.19 percent in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, exceeding Jakarta's 4.95 percent growth and the overall Indonesian economy's 4.87 percent growth. Banten's growth was strongly supported by the manufacturing sector.
"Meanwhile, Jakarta is more dependent on the service sector, such as trade, information, and finance," stated Financial Services Authority (OJK) Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek) Head Edwin Nurhadi on the sidelines of OJK Jabodebek's Media Chat event in Tangerang City, Banten on May 9, 2025.
Contribution to Banten's overall economic growth by sector include manufacturing with 38.17 percent; other sectors with 27.01 percent; wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repairs with 13 percent; construction with 10.52 percent, and real estate with 8.88 percent.
"Meanwhile, for DKI (Special Capital Region) Jakarta it includes other sectors combined with 38.17 percent, wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair with 15.81 percent, information and communication with 13.97 percent, manufacturing industry with 11.03 percent, financial services and insurance with 10.70 percent, construction with 10.32 percent," said Edwin.
Total assets of the financial services sector in Banten and DKI Jakarta reached nearly Rp15.16 quadrillion, with total banking third-party funds around Rp5.09 quadrillion.
"Total disbursed bank loans reached Rp4.25 quadrillion," said Edwin.
