JDW 2025 presented limited-edition desserts, Golden Swirl Award

WINDONESIA September 15, 2025 (JDW)

Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) returned to satisfy Jakartans' taste buds. Running from Aug. 25–Sep. 14, 2025, this dessert festival took place at dozens of select restaurants and culinary outlets across Jakarta.

JDW, which was inaugurated on Aug. 24, 2025, continues the Restaurant Week concept where each participating restaurant presents limited-edition desserts available only during the JDW period. Visitors are invited to do "dessert hopping" and sample a variety of unique themed desserts by selected restaurants.

What sets each edition of JDW apart is the increasing number of major and independent brands participating to explore new menus. The experimentation keeps the JDW experience fresh, even though the basic concept of celebrating desserts remains the same.

JDW co-founder Tria Nuragustina stated that JDW 2025's theme is "A Tribute to Jakarta." This theme, she explained, celebrates Jakarta as a melting pot of culinary delights, culture, and creativity.

"The [JDW] theme is realized through various collaborations, limited-edition menus, and public programs that highlight the city's role as a hub for dessert innovation. So it's not just a sweet food festival, but also a tribute to Jakarta, which continues to inspire," she said when contacted by Tempo on Aug. 25, 2025.

JDW 2025 featured more than 50 well-known brands participating in Restaurant Week, including Ismaya Group's Flor, Union Group's Knots, Braud, 7AM, AB Steak, Kempi Deli, Pipiltin Cocoa, Maiku, Billy's Block, Chicory, and many others. Each restaurant served special dessert creations curated according to the JDW 2025 theme.

JDW 2025 also presented Dessert Markt, a bazaar held at the Tribeca section of Central Park Mall in Sep. 4–14, 2025. The bazaar showcased more than 35 emerging dessert brands, such as Bagai Mendapat Durian Runtuh, Serabi Mawar, Terve, Itsuka Cola, DOSA, Maru, Tomaple, Doux Cookies, Kwasong, and Mysie Bakery.

JDW 2025 also returned with the Golden Swirl Award, which gave recognition to the best individuals and businesses in the Indonesian dessert industry. The event took place on Sep. 8, 2025, at Plaza Indonesia.

JDW, which has been included in the Tourism Ministry's Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2025 calendar of cultural festivals, has also initiated similar formats in other cities like Bandung and Medan through Bandung Dessert Week and Medan Dessert Week.

"JDW is part of a broader movement to make Indonesian desserts an essential part of the national gastronomy." Tria concluded.
