Japanese Consul General in Makassar Ohashi Koichi has brought Japanese entrepreneurs to Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province to invest in the city, particularly towards its property industry.

Ohashi and DAX Jaya Indonesia Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Fumia Yoshikawa met with Acting Makassar City Regional Secretary Firman Pagarra in Makassar on May 28, 2024.

"We warmly welcome the Japanese development team. Their presence can set an example for other developers in Makassar," Firman said.

The Regional Secretary highlighted the reputation of Japanese buildings for their sturdiness and quality, attributes that were proven during Japan's frequent earthquakes. He believes that Japanese developers can serve as a model for local developers, especially in building homes with advanced technology and high-quality standards.

"This aligns with Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto's vision to make Makassar a Smart City and Low Carbon City," Firman noted.

Firman noted that Makassar Mayor Pomanto is currently implementing the Low Carbon City initiative in Makassar.

"I hope the advanced technology used in these buildings will support this vision. I am grateful that you have chosen Makassar for your housing development projects," he said.

Fumia Yoshikawa mentioned DAX Indonesia's plans to build eco-friendly housing with a Japanese concept that would enompass 120 to 130 units of housing on a 1.5 hectare (ha) plot of land.

"We are here to present our plans and seek permission due to changes in regulations from [the change from] IMB (Building Construction Permits) to PBG (Building Development Aprroval). We have consulted with Makassar City officials and are pleased with their positive reception," he said.

The executive expressed hope that DAX Indonesia's presence in Makassar would improve the availability of comfortable housing for its residents.
