Jambi and Kerinci Signs MoU on Inflation, Tourism, and Agriculture

The Jambi City Government and the Kerinci Regency Government have agreed to strengthen their synergy in regional inflation control, tourism development, and agricultural sector improvement.

This agreement was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Jambi Acting Mayor Sri Purwaningsih, and the Kerinci Acting Regent Asraf in Jambi recently.

Sri Purwaningsih stated that this MoU is the result of a long process involving many parties and resources. She believes that inter-regional cooperation will provide extensive benefits for governance and the communities in both regions.

“There is a process of knowledge transfer, mutual sharing, and complementing each other, which will benefit both regions on a larger scale in the future,” Sri explained.

Furthermore, Sri elaborated that regional inflation control cooperation in the MoU encompass both regions will collaborate to curb inflation through various efforts, such as optimizing the distribution of essential goods and promoting local production.

Tourism development in the MoU will adress the extraordinary natural tourism potential in Kerinci, which will be jointly promoted to attract more tourists to both regions.

Lastly, agricultural sector improvement in the MoU recognizes that Kerinci, as a producer of key commodities such as chili, onions, and rice, will collaborate with Jambi City to enhance market access and add value to agricultural products.

Sri is optimistic that this MoU will have a positive impact on both regions. She also expressed her appreciation to those who initiated the MoU, including the Jambi City Secretary, who is also the Jambi City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) Head, and the Regional Secretariat's Cooperation Section.

Meanwhile, Asraf expressed his appreciation to the Jambi City Government for its various achievements, including in attracting tourists.

“Hopefully, this can continue with other [avenues of] collaborations,” he added.

Asraf also hopes that the Jambi City Government can recommend tourism in Kerinci to tourists, increasing visitor numbers to the region.
