The Bandar Lampung City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) noted that realized investment to the city had only reached Rp 1.6 trillion as of September 2024, or 48.42 percent of the Rp3.2 trillion annual target.

"Realized investments from January to September 2024 consisted of Rp1.12 trillion from domestic investments and Rp464.08 billion from foreign investments," DPMPTSP Bandar Lampung City Head Muhtadi Arsyad Temenggung divulged on Dec. 6, 2024.

He explained that 2024 being a regional election year being one of the factors for the low investment realization, as entrepreneurs tend to postpone investment until the political situation is considered stable.

"Another reason is that investments to Bandar Lampung is mostly amid long-term [phases], such as land acquisition, building construction, machinery procurement, and raw materials [procurement]," Muhtadi said.

Nevertheless, he stated that the Bandar Lampung City Government continues to strive to support investment acceleration, including by accelerating the licensing process.

Muhtadi also said that there are still two upcoming major investment projects in the form of hotel construction worth Rp250 billion and Rp600 billion. With those additions, he is optimistic that realized investments to the city could at the very least exceed 50 percent of its annual target.
