Eramet plans to invest in South Sulawesi, Papua

French mining company Eramet Group plans to  increase its investment in Indonesia. Investment and Downstream Minister/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Head Rosan P. Roeslani stated he had met with Eramet Group Chief Executive Officer Christel Bories on Feb. 3, 2025.

Rosan said the meeting discussed increasing cooperation and potential investment by Eramet in Indonesia. As the investment minister, Rosan said his party facilitated Eramet's desire to continue developing its footprint in Indonesia.

"They want to develop not only by contractor, but also as co-development to be able to produce from Indonesia. Hence, they are also collaborating with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and we will coordinate [that collaboration] later," said Rosan when met at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Feb. 4, 2025.

Previously, the CEO of Eramet explained his investment plans through Rosan's Instagram account @rosanroeslani, which includes exploration of new mining areas in South Sulawesi and Papua as well as the development of the Responsible Green Electric Vehicle (RGEC) project involving various strategic partners. In addition to accelerating the growth of the Indonesia's electric vehicle industry in Indonesia, the collaboration is expected to contribute towards job creation and increased technology transfer.
