Delegations from China's Ningxia Provincial Government conducted a working visit to the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government on Dec. 19, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between both local governments that has been going on for seven years, while also discussing opportunities for increasing investment to West Nusa Tenggara.

This meeting discussed various potential cooperation, especially in the tourism, trade, and investment sectors. West Nusa Tenggara offers great opportunities thanks to infrastructure support such as the Lombok International Airport and ports that can accommodate international cruise ships. One of the main plans that was discussed was investment in the construction of an oil refinery, an international seaport, and the development of a new city to further recovery after the earthquake in 2019.

"West Nusa Tenggara is very beautiful and has great potential in the fields of tourism and agriculture. We are open to establishing further cooperation and strengthening friendly relations between Indonesia and China," said Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office Director-General Bai Yuzhen.

He also highlighted the importance of exchanging information and resources between Ningxia and West Nusa Tenggara, especially in the agricultural, export-import, and food production sectors. Bai offered opportunities for cooperation in the field of education by opening opportunities for West Nusa Tenggara students to study in Ningxia.

"We want to invite West Nusa Tenggarastudents to study in Ningxia so that knowledge transfer can occur. In addition, we also want to explore investment opportunities to increase food production in West Nusa Tenggara," he added.

West Nusa Tenggara Province Regional Secretary Lalu Gita Ariadi warmly welcomed the visit of the Ningxia delegations, which consisted of 17 people. He expressed optimism about the opportunities for cooperation that could be established.

"We are very happy about this visit. Hopefully it will result in an agreement that is beneficial for both parties in the future," he said.

Lalu emphasized the importance of increasing the value of West Nusa Tenggara's export products, so that goods are not sent not in raw form, but as manufactured products. He also expressed interest in learning more from Ningxia, especially about the Chinese province's agricultural sector, to support the food security program initiated by Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto.

"We are ready to discuss the investment plan that Ningxia wants to offer to West Nusa Tenggara," he said.

This visit was received by Acting West Nusa Tenggara One-Stop Investment and Integrated Services Wahyu Hidayat and heads of related provincial offices, including from the Trade, Tourism, Agriculture, and Fisheries Services.
