The Sabang Area Management Agency (BPKS) is opening opportunities for investors interested in constructing oil bunkers in the region.

“Sabang is one of the areas located in the Strait of Malacca, serving as a gateway to the global economy and a region frequented by ships, making it an ideal location for refueling and other necessities,” said BPKS Head Iskandar Zulkarnain, stated in Banda Aceh City, Aceh Province on May 15, 2024.

He explained that there has been no detailed discussion regarding the development of the oil bunker yet, but they are open to investors who wish to invest in this sector.

“Concerning the feasibility study related to oil bunker facilities in Sabang, it will also provide input for future development. Essentially since we are open to such developments,” he said.

He mentioned that they are ready to prepare land for investors planning to build oil bunker facilities in Sabang City, Aceh, which will become a docking area for ships from various countries.

“Currently, we are also exploring cooperation with India, where ships from that country will dock in Sabang for transit before continuing to their destination countries,” he said.

He added that they are currently reassessing the development of the Sabang area, as it has not been able to develop optimally over the past 24 years due to overlapping regulations.

“We strongly hope that the next elected president will give serious attention to the development of Sabang by ensuring that existing regulations support the area's development as the economic locomotive of Aceh in the future,” he said.
