Boalemo Has Good Captive Fisheries Potential

Acting Boalemo Regent Sherman Moridu stated that the Boalemo Regency in Gorontalo Province is one of the regions that has the good capture fisheries potential, with about 5,103 fishermen and total production reaching 23,421 metric ton (MT) in 2023.

Sherman conveyed his statement on the sidelines of the opening for the fishermen's skills certification training activity. The event was carried out by the Boalemo Regency Fisheries and Marine Service at the Grand Q Hotel in Boalemo Regency on Sep. 5, 2023.

He added that the Boalemo Regency government continued to encourage fishermen in the regency to develop capture fisheries management and increase the capacity of small fishermen, such as through the certification training activity.

"The activity is expected to be able to encourage regional independence and stability, as well as improve the ability, knowledge, and safety of fishermen in carrying out fishing activities, so that they could realize the economic welfare of the community," Sherman said.

He also noted that in addition to socializing the strategic role of fisheries business actors or fishermen, the training is also done to increase responsive fisheries production as food security to support the reduction in stunting rates.
