Belitung Regency welcomes PT GIA's smelter investment

Acting Belitung Regent Mikron Antariksa welcomed the investment plan of PT Green Indonesia Alumina (PT GIA) to the Suge Industrial Estate in Badau District, Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. He conveyed that sentiment when opening the audience meeting and presentation of PT GIA's investment plan in the meeting room of the Belitung Regent's Office on Nov. 29, 2024.

Mikron said that PT GIA's investment is worth Rp37 trillion based on the company's presentation, which he noted is an extraordinary investment for Belitung. The project is expected to employ thousands of people, supporting the growth of the local and national economy.

"Today we compile all requirements for the investment, starting from licensing, ports, the environment, and other related elements. Everything is ready," he stated.

Mikron added that Bangka Belitung Islands Province Investment and Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) also contributed to providing said support, making it easier for the investment to run smoothly. The plan is for the inauguration of the investment's construction to begin by January 2025.

Meanwhile, Belitung Regency DPMPTSP Head Ronny Setiawanis ready to provide convenience in processing all the permits needed for the investment and in supporting all technical needs required by PT. GIA.

PT GIA, which does business in the non-ferrous base metal manufacturing industry, will invest for a smelter site with 380 hectares in total area with a production capacity of 1.2 to 2.4 million tons of processed aluminium per year. 70 percent of the smelter's production will be exported to the Middle East, and the remaining 30 percent for the domestic market.
